The History of College Football in America

Before speaking about the college football in whole, let us state what it presupposes. So, college football in considered to be American football played by teams in colleges, universities, and military academies.
Modern American football has made its influence upon many other kinds of games, for example, “football”, which is played in the England, Rugby football, which was brought into Canada by the British soldiers, and soon became a popular game within universities and colleges.
The first game played in the United States of America is just considered to be a far ancestor of the modern American football as it was played under the rules demanded by the rugby style Association. It was the game between the following teams: Rutgers College, which now is famous as Rutgers University and College of New Jersey, which now is famous under the name Princeton University. It was held in 1869, November 6. Rutgers won with the score 6:4. This game was a very important event, as it was determined as the game of “football” in some documentaries for the first time.
One more game was played in 1970 between Rutgers and Columbia University, since that time, football became a very popular game among the colleges in America.
